What Is Driving Blockchain Adoption In The Supply Chain: A Technology-Organization-Environment Perspective
This study explores the adoption of blockchain technologies in supply chain management through the lens of the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework. Blockchain, a distributed digital ledger, offers transforma-tive potential by enhancing product traceability, reducing fraud, and increas-ing transparency, yet its adoption faces barriers such as technical complexity and regulatory uncertainty. Drawing on a survey of supply chain profession-als, the research identifies key technological, organizational, and environ-mental drivers of blockchain adoption, including relative advantage, tech-nology competence, trading partner readiness, and mimetic pressures. Find-ings confirm that blockchain adoption significantly improves supply chain performance and competitive advantage. The study provides actionable in-sights for practitioners and theoretical contributions to the TOE framework, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts across technological, or-ganizational, and environmental dimensions to achieve successful block-chain integration and maximize its impact on supply chain and firm perfor-mance.
